The Ultimate Cheap Ass $1Fast Food Double Cheeseburger Showdown!

Special treat today.  I am reviewing and comparing the McDonald's McDouble and the Burger King Double Cheeseburger.  Both are just $1.  Why aren't I reviewing the McDonald's "real" double cheeseburger?  Because it costs $.19 extra and I ain't paying no nineteen cents for an extra piece of goddamn cheese.  It all tastes the same anyway.  Onto the reviews!



First off, we'll start with what McD's and BK THINK their sandwiches look like (McD on left, BK on right -

Pretty great looking, right?  Here is what the sandwiches actually look like -

Epic difference.  But that is the nature of fast food, isn't it?  Nothing is ever as pretty as it looks on TV.  They still taste good, though, which is all that matters.  Now, onto the reviews.

McDonald's McDouble
Two beef patties.  Onion.  Ketchup.  Pickle.  One piece of cheese.  Simple.  Tastes good.  Can be better or worse depending on how greasy it is and how many onions are on it.  Loses points because McDonald's pickles are disgusting.

Burger King Double Cheeseburger
Two beef patties.  Ketchup.  Mustard.  Pickle.  Two pieces of cheese.  Simple.  Tastes good.  Can be better or worse depending on how much of the "grill" flavor they spray paint on it comes through.  Too much grill flavor is nasty.  Also, BK pickles are awesome.  The BK double cheese also gets props for having mustard on it. 

Bottom Line
Both are good.  Both are dirt cheap at $1.  Both are great examples of how you should be eating at a fast food restaurant.  What do I mean by that?  I mean that the $1 cheap sandwich tastes pretty much the same as the bigger, more expensive sandwiches, but costs way less and you can buy 2-3 and actually get filled up for less than a Double Quarter Pounder or Double Whopper costs.

Which one is the better cheap ass $1 fast food double cheeseburger?  I have to go with BK.  It has more flavor than the McD version.  The mustard sealed the deal.  I give the McDonald's McDouble a 7/10 and the Burger King Double Cheeseburger an 8/10.  Or the equivalent of one Scrooge McDuck and two of his three nephews.  Not Dewey, though, because he is a bastard.
